Rossellini, Bogdanovich to speak at new film fest HQ - The Globe and Mail

"David Cronenberg, Isabella Rossellini and Peter Bogdanovich are among the cinematic luminaries set to visit the new home of the Toronto International Film Festival this fall.

The five-storey Bell Lightbox is due to open next month during this year's edition of the festival.

It'll be the permanent, year-round home of the fest and will host screenings and exhibits as well as house office space.

The celeb speakers are coming to town to chat about some of the titles on the festival's list of one hundred most influential films.

On Sept. 23 and 24, Cronenberg will introduce his 1983 film Videodrome, which is number 89 on the list.

Rossellini will be in town Oct. 12 to talk about her father Roberto Rossellini's 1953 film Voyage in Italy, which is number 27 on the list. She'll also screen some of her own films, including Blue Velvet, number 92 on the list.

Bogdanovich, who directed The Last Picture Show, will be here Oct. 29 and 30 to introduce Orson Welles' Citizen Kane, which is number two on the list and John Ford's The Searchers, number 41 on the list.

This year's edition of the Toronto International Film Festival runs Sept. 9 to 19. It'll open with Score: A Hockey Musical, from Canadian director Michael McGowan."
Bogdanovich is coming to Virginia's Film Festival, but Isabelle Rossellini is, of course (and alas!), not.
